An Introduction for Sponsors
Yacht Racing media coverage is exploding. 954 million people watched the Americas Cup last summer and SailGP has signed F1 level sponsorships from Emirates, JP Morgan, Tommy Hilfinger, and others. The number of websites, YouTube channels, podcasts, newsletters, X posts, Instagram accounts, Facebook groups, and WhatsApp channels covering the Cup, SailGP, and Yacht Racing in general is growing just as fast as fan interest.
Most yacht racing events take place annually. Some, like the Sydney to Hobart Race, are hosted by the same organization in the same place every year. Others, like world championships for each class of racing sailboat, are handed off from one organizer to another and moved to a new venue every year. The long annual intervals, and the changing organizers and venues are high hurdles to clear for sponsors looking for sports with weekly events.
Taken together, there are high quality yacht racing events taking place each week. But a sponsor looking to have a presence in the sailing media every week would have to find and engage each one independently.
We are launching YachtRacing.tv to organize this chaotic universe and enable a sponsor to sign one agreement for a steady stream of events. Built to organize the world of yacht racing, we are starting locally in the spring of 2025 covering eight events in the Pacific Northwest. With one agreement, a sponsor can now have a presence at eight events – projecting their brand in a steady, consistent, and high quality media context every week.
